Covering a wide range of themes such as creativity, artistry and leadership, this original series showcases Cirque du Soleil creators and artists as they open up and share their passion, experiences and learnings. Take a step behind the curtain into a world where creativity flourishes freely.
Creativity isn’t an outcome, it’s a process - Michel Laprise
Michel Laprise distinguished himself in theatre for nearly a decade prior to running off and “joining the circus”. In 2012, he collaborated with Madonna, providing artistic direction for her performance at the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show and later went on to direct her MDNA tour. He is currently working on the new Cirque du Soleil resident show Drawn to Life in collaboration with Disney, which is set to open in 2021 in Disney Springs.
Dreaming never seems to be enough - Lydia Bouchard
With 22 years of onstage experience with renowned companies such as Ex Machina and Opéra de Montréal, the multidisciplinary artist Lydia Bouchard has danced on stages around the world. She then diversified her experience towards television where she has become a strong voice for Quebec’s dance community. Performing both as an artist and as a creator, she brought to life several choreographies and acted as show director on many projects for Cirque du Soleil.
Performing has to be within you – Elena Lev
Elena Lev, one of Cirque du Soleil’s iconic performers, started her career as a circus performer at the age of 12 when she first joined the show Alegría. She is wildly known for her signature acts which combine the art of hula hoops with gymnastics and contortion. Elena is a seasoned performer, having toured the world with some of Cirque du Soleil’s most famous productions, including Saltimbanco and Quidam.
Defy conformity and embrace diversity - Zaldy Goco
Zaldy Goco is currently the costume designer responsible for the glamorous gowns worn by Ru on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and recently won his third Emmy at the Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2004, Zaldy became involved with Gwen Stefani’s clothing line where he quickly became head designer. He designed costumes for various Cirque du Soleil shows and has worked with icons such as Beyoncé, Mick Jagger and Jennifer Lopez.
